Sir,

I am commanded by the Air Council to refer to Colonial Office letter of the 1st November, No. 62751/29, forwarding a copy of despatch No. 391 from the Governor of Hong Kong on the subject of charges for the use of public aerodromes in the United Kingdom.

In reply I am to acquaint you for the information of the Secretary of State for the Colonies that details of the fees levied at State-owned air stations in this country are shown in Air Ministry Notice to Airmen No. 45/1928, a copy of which is enclosed. It will be observed on reference to paragraph 5 there of that except in the case of Croydon and Lympne the scale of charges shown at paragraph 2 is in operation for all civil aircraft whether used for public transport or for purely private purposes.

The tariff of charges at non-State-owned civil aerodrome s licensed for public use, is fixed by the authority controlling the aerodrome concerned subject to approval by the Secretary of State under Article 7 (3) of the Air Navigation (Consolidation) Order 1923. In this connexion I am to enclose a copy of the tariff of charges recently approved for public aerodromes established by National Flying Services Ltd.
